Mornington Peninsula, VIC
Port Phillip Estate is an iconic Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris producer on the Mornington Peninsula, one of Australia’s foremost cool-climate maritime wine regions. They endeavour to grow the highest quality fruit that expresses the terroir of each vineyard. Meticulous sustainable viticulture is driven by the belief that the health of vineyard soils and vines underpin wine quality. The vineyards are hand-pruned and all the fruit is handpicked. The winemaking philosophy is to best preserve the inherent characteristics of the fruit, making site-expressive wines of detail and structure. All wines convey a sense of the place and the season in which they are grown. Practices in the winery are low-intervention – fermentation of all wines occurs spontaneously with native ambient yeasts. Only French oak is used. All wines are bottled without fining and with minimal filtration to preserve their natural character and integrity.
Celebrated winemaker Tim Perrin’s approach is driven by authenticity; crafting wine that speaks of place and circumstance, preserving the character of the fruit and celebrating the vineyard in which it was grown, the season and collective endeavour. It is the fine balance between scrupulous attention to detail and minimal intervention that allows wine to fully express provenance. Tim is passionate about single-site Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
